Strad model owned by Mackenzie Bartsch. - 2015
Mackenzie Bartsch first heard the violin at a Houston Symphony concert when she was three and has been captivated by its magical, singing voice ever since. In 5th grade, she began taking lessons at the Coulson Tough Flex School in the Woodlands. Her musical interests have continued to grow and intensify which has led her to attend the Vivaldi Music Academy in Houston. In addition, she composes modern, cinematic film scores using the piano, guitar, analog/modular synthesizers and of course, the violin. As a Freshman at the Woodlands High School, Mackenzie became the lucky owner of a Dorian Barnes violin, modeled after the "Le Messie" Stradivarius of 1716. It will make its Carnegie Hall debut in New York in late June, 2015.
"This violin was made for Hae-a Lee, my beloved wife to be" - 2013
Ellie Vincent is 12 years old and was born in Houston, Texas. She has been taking violin for almost 9 years and has absolutely loved it! She started taking violin lessons at four and a half with Jonathan Godfrey. She studied with Jonathan for almost seven years. She has studied with Rodica Gonzalez for the last two years. This past year, Ellie participated in her school talent show. She played a Fiddle piece, along with a classmate, called The Millionaire’s Hoedown. Although she has mainly played classical pieces, she enjoyed playing the Hoedown the most. Ellie cannot wait till Dorian finishes her violin!!!
While attending the post-concert reception for "Birds, Bees and Brandenburg", a concert given by Mercury Baroque in Houston, TX on Valentine's Day, 2009, I was approached by the Concertmaster, Jonathan Godfrey about the idea of making a complete set of instruments for Mercury Baroque.
